Guardiola changes can help Germany, says Low

 
The 53-year-old insists that Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger's change of positions under the Spaniard will not affect his side too heavily
Germany coach Joachim Low believes changes to how key players Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger play at Bayern Munich can help his side.

Injuries have seen Lahm, 29, deployed in defensive midfield rather than at right-back by Pep Guardiola, while Schweinsteiger, featured in an unorthodox attacking slot in Wednesday's 4-1 DFB-Pokal win over Hannover.

Although it has been mooted that the tweaks under Guardiola will affect the Mannschaft detrimentally, Low believes that the added flexibility of two of his key players can help Germany remain effective.

"Philipp Lahm has indeed played in that No.6 role for the national team before," the 53-year-old told Bild. "And, of course, Bastian can play in any position in midfield.

"I want the same - we need the variability to be unpredictable for any opponent.

"I know that Pep Guardiola thinks just like me at this point."

Germany face Republic of Ireland in a World Cup 2014 qualifier on October 11.

Chelsea sign Bakayoko from Monaco for £40M

Tiemoue Bakayoko has joined Chelsea from Monaco and become the club's second-most expensive signing of all time. Sky Sports News HQ understands the 22-year-old has cost the Blues £40m - some £10m less than Fernando Torres in 2011.
