Everton Vs Arsenal match preview


Gabriel is set to replace the injured Shkodran Mustafi in the Arsenal defence as they travel to Everton on Tuesday evening.

 Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that the Germany international would be sidelined for around three weeks, and will miss much of the Christmas period.

Alongside Gabriel, Rob Holding will also be included in the squad to provide cover with the Gunners boss assured they can step up to fill the gap. 

 "It is a challenge because we had good defensive stability. We have Gabriel [Paulista], we have [Rob] Holding who can come in for him. Overall, I am confident both can do well, but that's one of the tests we have," Wenger said.

 Everton continue to struggle after a good start to the season, failing to win any of their last five Premier League games and suffered a 3-2 loss to Watford on Saturday.

 But the Toffees remain in the top half of the table and could briefly jump into seventh place with a victory against the Gunners this week.

 Aside from the defensive move around, Aaron Ramsey will also remain sidelined with a hamstring problem of his own.

 Arsenal's longer-term injured stars are still not ready to return, including Santi Cazorla, Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck.

Everton have no new injuries ahead of Arsenal's visit, but could makes changes as they look to change their fortunes.

 Manager Ronald Koeman has the option of recalling Ross Barkley, Aaron Lennon and Enner Valencia to the starting side while Yannick Bolasie and Mo Besic are the only first-team absentees with long-term knee ligament problems.

 Since the start of 2013-14, Lukaku has scored 52 of Everton's 187 Premier League goals (28%) and no other player has more than 20 goals for the club in this period.

 Alexis Sanchez has had a hand in 26 goals in his last 26 Premier League appearances for Arsenal (18 goals, 8 assists).

Chelsea sign Bakayoko from Monaco for £40M

Tiemoue Bakayoko has joined Chelsea from Monaco and become the club's second-most expensive signing of all time. Sky Sports News HQ understands the 22-year-old has cost the Blues £40m - some £10m less than Fernando Torres in 2011.
